Are you into rock climbing or mountaineering? AURAC is one of the largest climbing clubs in New Zealand, and one of the most active outdoor clubs associated with the University of Auckland. AURAC caters to all climbing styles: indoor, outdoor, sport, bouldering, trad, alpine/mountaineering, etc.

We meet on Wednesday nights from 7 pm at the Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre for our indoor climbing club nights, with carpooling organised for our members. On the weekends, we run outdoor rock climbing and alpine trips. There are also plenty of social events on offer. We can also be found slacklining, commonly in Albert Park, for all keen members to try or show off their skills.

Our members range from complete beginners, to those with years of experience. We welcome new members of any level; and whether you’re associated with the university (student/staff) or not. We run instruction courses to help our members climb using best practice and to improve their climbing skills. We offer free gear hire to our members, so no one needs to spend lots of money getting into the sport.
